APTi MBTI® FAQ
posted by Mike Shur
It’s easy to fall victim to the alphabet soup of one’s own industry. As an employee at IBM and as any attorney I could get lost in the perfectly natural cadence of meaning-rich letters that spoke volumes to the cognoscenti, but left the other 99.99% of normal humans scartching their heads in confusion. But I just couldn’t pass up the chance to leverage so many acronyms ripe for the ICON community.
So what is this post about? I found a great document of Frequently Asked Questions on the site for the Association of Psychological Type Internationl about the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®). The FAQ addresses questions that first-time clients may ask in finding out more about the MBTI assessment and how it works. It addresses points of cultural relevance of the assessment, if people change type over time, and if certain types work better together in relationships. It also gives convenient references to pages in the MBTI® Manual where you can find supporting citations.
For those of you who use the MBTI assessment this is a great little “cheat sheet” or even a hand-out to especially inquisitive clients. . .not like us trusting ENTP’s.
