We’re all in the “business development” game

A friend sent me a great link today about how business development, i.e. getting more new business, is getting done these days.  Of course there’s new technology involved, from LinkedIn to Twitter to Facebook.  The article discusses why “cold calling” is dead, the misalignment of timing expectations between small companies and large organizations, and how new “Web 2.0” technologies can make small companies (for example, small training and development companies) more competitive and cheaper to run that large established companies.

This may not herald the techno-frenzy of the late-90’s (oh how we miss you!), but it sounds like technology keeps developing to make “the little guy” more competitive than ever.  Can anyone share an experience where using technology has helped them to win new business?

P.S.  For anyone technology and business minded, the ReadWriteWeb site is a great place to get information and innovative analysis.
