Return of the Prodigal Poster

The past month has been busy. Which is no reason for lack of posts, but. . .I have returned and I’ve got photos!!
First things first: After launching this ICON community we planned on doing a pilot meeting with ICONs on the east coast. I worked with Doreen Miri and Terri Lipson, to set up times to see as many ICONs as we could get into a room. What a rush!
In New York City, we worked with Jane Maloney and Juanita Davies to get time on the crowded program of the last chapter meeting of the ‘07 - ‘08 season. I was on the bill with Kathy McGuire and Bob Cuddy. Crudite and a little “fruit of the vine” helped to get the crowd in an engaged frame of mind as did a number of give-aways. We definitely didn’t want to come empty ended or let anyone who attended the meeting leave that way. Here are some photos of that evening.
Then it was off to Princeton, New Jersey. Through the Holland Tunnel, over the New Jersey Turnpike, down Route 1 I drove through the factory lights of the New Jersey night. The next morning Doreen had gathered a select group of Jersey ICONs (Jersey-CONs?) to hear my presentation and to discuss their needs and how CPP could help them achieve their business goals. The setting was more intimate and we had the chance to hear in greater detail how the ICON program and CPP could step up to partner more effectively with the ICONs. And, of course, we took photos.
The final stop on the east coast leg of the ICON Roadshow was scheduled for Washington, D.C. Terri Lipson had contacted local area consultants to come by and join us for an overview of the ICON Success program in CPP’s Washington, D.C. office. This was another smaller group so we could get more in-depth information about ICON needs. The libations and victuals were plentiful and the conversation enthusiastic. Here’s a little visual evidence.
Three days, three cities, over-night drives, adoring audiences. . .I felt like a rock icon for ICONs!! But seriously. . . I was about to be in for an even bigger treat: Type Palooza in the Windy City itself — Chicago. May 17, 2008 dozens of folks from the Great Lakes and Chicago area chapters came together to see four dynamite speakers: Dick Thompson and Danielle Poirier spoke in the morning sessions, and Greg Huszcko and Scott Savage spoke in the afternoon. And you guessed it, I took pictures.
It’s a real treat for me to beam down from the Mother Ship in Mountain View and see and hear what’s really going on in the world of type and organizational consulting. I want to thank everyone who spoke to me and gave their feedback during our introductory sessions. I look forward to seeing even more folks in the near future. My next appearance will be in Chicago (again!) at the national SHRM conference.
