What’s Your Type? (Of Beverage)
written by agammy
Typically, we strive to provide you with knowledge, motivation, support, and net-working opportunities, but today, we are here to entertain.
In light of that, I want to post an article that will be featured in next week’s ICONIC Connections that answers the question - “What’s your Type of Beverage?” When reflecting upon the holiday season and its festivities, food, fun, and drinks . . . . we began wondering if certain MBTI types gravitated toward certain beverages. Based on the characteristics of type (from Introduction to Type) we thought the following drinks might be a good match. Were we close, or do you have your own “type and beverage” theories?
ISTJ — Gin & Tonic
Practical, matter-of-fact, and responsible – the words ISTJs live by. For these people, is there a drink more appropriate and stolid than a G&T? It’s key to note that the gin should be Beefeater or Bombay Sapphire (because dependability and quality are key.)
ISTP — Kendall Jackson Chardonnay
Tolerant and flexible problem-solvers, ISTPs like to find solutions to whatever challenges come their way. Kendall Jackson Chardonnay is perfect for sipping with dinner or for popping the cork with unexpected guests who arrive with pizza or birthday cake.
ESTP — Beer
For immediate and energetic results at a party, nothing gets the job done like beer. Easy to buy, transport and share, beer (domestic) is the universal social lubricant that gets any gathering started and going well into the wee hours. Bonus - the containers are recyclable!
ESTJ — Black Coffee
If there’s one thing these “super-J’s” need, it’s a consistent fuel source for their non-stop projects. Black coffee is just the thing to drink while eating a breakfast sandwich, listening to the news and checking voicemail on the way to work. It’s perfect as an afternoon pick-me-up, and keeps spirits high on the way to Christmas Eve after leaving the last client dinner. Black coffee – nectar of champions.
ISFJ — Ethos Water
Harmony, order, care for others – these are the watchwords of the ISFJ. Ethos Water quenches a thirst while minimizing the environmental impact of water in a plastic bottle. Hydration is important and so is the Earth.
ISFP — Chamomile Tea
Quiet, sensitive, and kind, ISFPs are loyal and committed to their values. A hot cup of chamomile tea soothes the nerves at the end of a day dealing with visiting family and creates a serene sense of centered-ness. It’s perfect to share when chatting with a friend about their day
ESFP — Everclear w/ Grapefruit Juice
ESFPs enjoy working with others to make things happen, and nothing makes things happen cheaper and faster than Everclear (flavored with grapefruit juice to mask the throat-seizing bite.) Everclear is the choice of a generation of party animals, and in fact, enough of this potent brew can turn anyone into an outgoing and friendly ESFP.
ESFJ — Beer by the Case, Wine by the Box
As the ultimate hosts, ESFJs want to make sure everyone at their event has plenty to drink. A six-pack and a single bottle of wine tucked in the back of the fridge just won’t do. . .who knows how many people could stop by? With a case of beer or a box of wine, everyone feels taken care of.
INFJ — Sustainably grown English Breakfast Tea
INFJs have a clear vision about how to serve the common good and seek meaning and connection in ideas and relationships. A strong cup of bracing black tea starts the day off right and is perfect for dessert conversations. Sustainably grown, of course, to make sure even Mother Earth is being treated right.
INFP — Vintage Pinot
Wine, but not just any wine - a vintage Pinot from a small winery tucked up in slightly inaccessible hills overlooking an unspoiled meadow. They know the winemaker personally as well as the owner. There is always a case of the Special Reserve set aside and good friends get to hear about the details during the bottle’s uncorking.
ENFP — Hot Chocolate with Peppermint Schnapps
Warm, enthusiastic, imaginative – all hallmarks of an ENFP (as well as of their creative and fun drink.) Hot chocolate with a (generous) dollop of peppermint schnapps will cause guests and friends to smile and “aaahhh” when the first taste hits their tongue. Mmmmm. . .
ENFJ — Martini
Mad Men has brought back thoughts of the 3 martini lunch – the classic drink for business with a social side. Both ENFJs and martinis act as catalysts for lunch partners and whole teams. The martini is also an excellent balm for an over-worked throat.
INTJ — Scotch, Single Malt Macallan
Having high standards for oneself and others is a classic INTJ trait. Their original minds see patterns in events as well as the long-range implications of the decisions being made. The same thinking is required to age a single malt Scotch for 20 years or more. Sip it slowly, taste the peat and the oak casks, then devise a plan to improve the process as you slowly finish the glass of amber magic.
INTP — Don Eduardo Silver Tequila
Everything in the world, everything in the UNIVERSE is connected. From the aridity of the soil where the agave plant grows, to the precise creation process of North America’s first distilled drink, to the college major of the bartender pouring the shot of Don Eduardo Silver, INTPs move in the intricate web of meaning as their minds constantly construct and update.
ENTP — Hypnotiq
Gimme the new thing, the NEXT thing – this is the motto of the ENTP. Hypnotiq and cranberry offers a sweet, deep-purple experience that your quotidian beer and wine just can’t touch. But can we make it green. . .with maybe a new flavor too. . .
ENTJ — WaterJoe
Life’s leaders are comfortable giving orders, solving organizational problems, and developing more efficient processes. What can be more efficient than doing two things at once: hydrating the body, and kick starting the endocrine system? No time to savor the moment – ENTJs will quickly use the new energy and focus to steer their sleek ship of focused vision.
