Lately I have been hearing about more and more people who are leaving the uncertain world of “Corporate America” for the just-as uncertain world of “Owning Your Own Business.”
Don’t get me wrong - being your own boss is extremly satisfying, and gives you an opportunity to flex strengths you didn’t know you had, but there are new challenges you must overcome if you want to be successful.
For those of you out there who are considering making a full transition from employee to business-owner, I wanted to share an article by Patrick Kerwin (MBA, NCC, MCC, and CPP Icon that was posted in the first issue of ICONic Connections. The article, “Hanging Out Your Shingle,” discusses the practicalities successful private practitioners must consider when starting their own business. Hopefully it provides some perspective as you are making the transition.
