Are You Nurturing Your Clients And Yourself By Blogging?

blogging1We hear how important blogging is for promoting our business. But why? In a time when companies are shifting focus to only revenue-generating initiatives, who has the time to blog once a week, or much less a few times a week?

The simple answer is that blogging helps to put your name and expertise out there to your target audience. I realize that as a private practitioner you have plenty of work already, but I highly recommend you set the time in your busy day for blogging. By sharing insights about your field, you are giving your clients access not only to your knowledge, but they will also continue to see you as an expert and think of you when they are in need of any of your services.

Another approach to blogging is to think of it as personal development. Think of this as a way to get your mind and ideas flowing. This is a fantastic way to share what you know and continue to develop your knowledge in your field of work. Blogging should be fun yet informative. Of course, the first few times you do it, it takes a while to get used to. I’m fairly new to blogging, but somehow ideas start flowing a lot easier now when I sit down to write. It really does get easier with time!

One of my favorite websites for blogging tips is The Future Buzz. I found an analogy from one of the blogs to share with you to get you thinking about blogging, if you haven’t started already. Think of blogging as going to the gym (read the blog here). It takes extra time and effort to go to the gym, and the results are not immediate. You can’t expect to go to the gym for a week or even a couple of weeks, and notice a six-pack right away. Similarly, when you begin writing blogs, you probably won’t see hundreds of readers come to your site right away. You may only see a handful for a while. There are many people who get highly discouraged when they start blogging and don’t see any results. The same goes for those who begin going to the gym and give up too quickly.

Yet think of the end results. Blogging is a way to nurture your clients and capture future leads for your practice. Whether or not your blog site is visited by a handful of people or even a thousand, you will have gained some quality writings from it along with a nice following. I encourage you to read the blog and I hope you enjoy the information as much as I did!

I like the idea of blogging for ‘personal development’ this has really proved to be the case for me, helping to clarify and revitalise some of my thinking.

That’s so great to hear! Blogging is becoming essential for small and large businesses alike. This is one of those fun things you can do to not only help your practice, but help yourself as well. It’s definitely a win-win!
