I know many of you are eager to purchase the newly revised MBTI® Team Report. But before you do, you might want to consider purchasing Introduction to Type® and Teams to complement this report. If you don’t have a copy of this booklet already, let me give you a quick run down before you make this purchase.

type-and-teamsIntroduction to Type® and Teams is a great resource that can be used to help teams maximize their effectiveness and their contributions. This booklet discusses six core team issues that are common in today’s work environments and how they relate to MBTI® preferences. These issues include: communication, team culture, leadership, change, problem solving/conflict resolution, and stress.

Once you’ve worked with the team to identify individual type preferences, you can use the booklet to help each team member think about their type preferences at work versus the preferences of their team members. For instance, if one team member prefers sensing they may be more likely to want pragmatic leadership vs. an intuitive team member who may want visionary leadership.

Next, you’ll want to work with each team member to review the type description and sample responses of their individual type with regard to each of the core team issues. Team members can then use these examples to enhance their type awareness and thereby increase both individual and team effectiveness.

I hope I’ve convinced you to get your own copy of Introduction to Type® and Teams. It will definitely be a beneficial resource for you in the long run.
