September’s ICON is Lynne Haggerman of Lynne Haggerman & Associates LLC. Lynne is a successful businesswoman with over 25 years of experience in human resource & employment consulting. She has initiated, created, grown and managed four businesses, starting her fourth in 2008, with all four pertaining to various aspects of the art of managing human capital. She is now a popular author and speaker with over 25 human resource seminars that she conducts on-site at company locations throughout the country.

Haggerman was selected as one of the Top 20 Most Influential Women in Springfield, Missouri in 2005, along with a former Missouri Senator and Missouri House of Representative and was honored to assist in determining the Top 20 Most Influential Women in Springfield in 2008. She is currently a member of the Society of Human Resource Management, the American Society of Training & Development, the International Association of Career Management Professionals, the Springfield Area Human Resource Association, and the Springfield American Society of Training and Development.

In her practice, Haggerman uses the MBTI®, FIRO-B®, CPI 260®, Strong Interest Inventory, Stress Resiliency Profile, and Thomas-Kilman Conflict Mode Instrument for several applications including in-house trainings, executive coaching, and individual coaching for individuals that have been downsized or who are looking for help accomplishing their goals.

Haggerman shared with us an inspirational story about how the MBTI made it possible for her to work toward the creation of Isabel’s House, a refuge for children 12 and under, in Springfield, MO. (Visit www.IsabelsHouse.org to learn more about the House.)

“The Junior League of Springfield wanted to build this house, because Springfield, MO, where I live, had a significantly larger number of substantiated child abuse and neglect cases compared to the average in the state of Missouri. Nationwide, Springfield, MO had more than five times the number of child abuse rates.

The Director called me to conduct a seminar to increase communication between the members.  She said that if this didn’t work, they wouldn’t be able to pull together and make Isabel’s House a reality. I used the MBTI to teach communication preferences, so all the members could better see how to communicate with each other. The training was effective, the group came together as a team, and Isabel’s House was built. I am very proud of my role in enabling the house to become a reality, and not be stopped from being built due to communication problems among the volunteers.”

Please join us in congratulating Lynne Haggerman as our September “ICON of the Month!”
