december-photoKathleen Sexton, the founder & CEO of Kairos Learning, has more than 15 years of experience providing webinar training services, organizational development, and career development services. Through her work with leaders and learners at all levels and in business, non-profit and academic environments, she has the versatility and experience to meet a broad range of client needs. Kathleen currently serves on the faculty of Stanford University’s Continuing Studies, and is a Senior Consultant with the outplacement firm Torchiana, Mastro & Saprio. Kathleen holds a master’s degree in counseling from San Francisco State University, a bachelor’s degree in business administration, and is a Nationally Certified Career Counselor (NCCC).

Kathleen uses the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® as well as the Strong Interest Inventory® assessments in her practice. She uses the MBTI® for team building sessions as well as with individuals for career counseling and uses the Strong for individual career counseling and outplacement. In the last year, Kathleen has even adopted SkillsOne.com to more easily administer assessments and generate reports.

Kathleen has led many successful training programs and shared a story with us about her Stanford University’s Continuing Education course.

“In my course, Compass Journey: A Personal Career and Life Strategizing, I have supplemented the regular workbook with the MBTI assessment and the Introduction to Type booklet. I feel the MBTI is such a valuable component of helping individuals determine the right type of environment and work they would enjoy. Participants have commented that understanding their type reinforced and validated their plans — some very life changing plans including sabbaticals to re-career, retirement, and even changing industries.”

Kathleen also had some advice to new practitioners that she wanted to share:

“I’m always looking for new ways to integrate the MBTI into my work.  The new CPP’s booklet on Project Management is a great tool for working with project management teams.  The SkillsOne site enables me to provide career counseling services via webinar because I can send the report and review it with the client but we can meet virtually.”
Thanks Kathleen for your advice, and we would like all ICONs to join us in congratulating Kathleen Sexton as 2009’s December “ICON of the Month!”
